Sharpen Steel

Sharpen Steel was released in 2020 as a core component of the Dorinthea Hero Deck, which accompanied the launch of the Flesh and Blood trading card game. Designed by Legend Story Studios, the card was crafted to introduce players to the Warrior class’s central mechanic of aggressive weapon utilization and combat chain maintenance. Its inclusion in a pre-constructed starter product was intended to provide new players with an accessible, efficient way to buff their primary weapon during combat.

The card’s illustration and design emphasize the tactical focus of the Warrior archetype, specifically the character Dorinthea Ironsong. By allowing a player to increase their weapon’s power while effectively recycling itself into the hand, the card was received as a fundamental teaching tool for the game's complex pitch and action point economy.
