Alexander the Grape

Alexander the Grape was introduced as a part of the Pillsbury company's Funny Face drink mix line in 1964. The character, along with others like Goofy Grape and Rootin' Tootin' Raspberry, was created to compete with Kool-Aid by offering fruit-flavored powdered drink mixes. These whimsical, personified mascots were designed by the advertising agency Campbell-Mithun, which aimed to create a playful and memorable identity to appeal to children during the mid-century surge in popularity of instant beverage products.
