Where it came from
Wrecking Ball, also known as Hammond, was released as part of the Funko Pop! Games series representing the character from the team-based shooter Overwatch. Developed by Blizzard Entertainment, the character debuted in the game in 2018, designed as an intelligent hamster piloting a transforming mechanical mech. The figure captures the creature’s distinctive spherical appearance, reflecting the whimsical yet tactical design ethos central to the game's diverse roster.
This collectible was produced during the height of the Overwatch merchandise line's popularity, aiming to translate the game's stylized 3D character models into the signature oversized-head aesthetic of the Funko brand. Like many entries in the Games series, it was received as a display-oriented piece for fans of the title, focusing on the mechanical detail of the 'Wrecking Ball' mech suit while maintaining the simplified, iconic silhouette that collectors of the line expect.
