Where it came from
Released in early 2023, the Lego Technic 2022 Ford GT (set 42154) was designed as an intricate 1:12 scale tribute to the high-performance supercar Ford unveiled to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the original GT40 racing victories. The set was engineered to capture the distinct aerodynamic silhouette of the vehicle, focusing on authentic mechanical details such as the V6 engine with moving pistons, independent suspension on all wheels, and front-wheel steering.
The design process prioritized the functional complexity characteristic of the Technic line, aiming to replicate the sophisticated gear-driven doors and the iconic rear-wheel drive configuration. Upon its debut, the model was well-received by automotive enthusiasts and builders for its balanced aesthetic, which successfully translates the Ford GT’s aggressive, track-focused design language into plastic construction elements.
