Released in 2015, the Obi-Wan Kenobi buildable figure (75109) was part of the inaugural wave of the Lego Star Wars Constraction line. This series was designed to bridge the gap between traditional brick-based construction and the action-figure aesthetic previously popularized by the Bionicle and Hero Factory themes. By utilizing a ball-and-socket joint system, these figures offered a higher degree of articulation and a more realistic, skeletal frame compared to standard minifigures, catering to fans who desired a display piece with dynamic posing capabilities.

The figure features a design inspired by Obi-Wan Kenobi's appearance in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, complete with a molded plastic version of his Jedi robes and a lightsaber element. The design team focused on balancing the blocky mechanical nature of Lego pieces with the organic flow of the character's attire, incorporating printed armor plates and fabric-like plastic shells.
