Where it came from
The 80s Musician minifigure, designated as number 14 in the LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 20, was released in 2020. This series was designed to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the long-running blind-bag theme, drawing inspiration from various cultural archetypes and nostalgic motifs. The character reflects the bold, high-energy aesthetic of the 1980s pop and new wave music scenes.
The design of the figure leans into signature decade-specific tropes, featuring a vibrant keytar accessory and a distinctive, spiky hairstyle reminiscent of glam rock and synth-pop icons of the era. The printed torso depicts a stylized jacket with lapels, capturing the theatrical fashion choices prevalent in music videos from that time. It was well-received by collectors for its niche pop-culture appeal and the inclusion of the unique, printed keytar piece.
