Where it came from
Released in 1999 as part of the Lego Duplo Winnie the Pooh line, this set was designed to introduce younger children to the characters of A.A. Milne's Hundred Acre Wood. The collection emerged during a period when Lego expanded its licensing agreements to incorporate globally recognized children's literature, aiming to blend classic Duplo building play with the familiar, comforting narratives of the Pooh franchise.
The set centers on a small, buildable tree and a bridge, designed with the chunky, rounded aesthetics characteristic of Duplo bricks to ensure ease of handling for toddlers. The inclusion of the Eeyore figure, known for his gentle and melancholic disposition, was intended to help children engage in emotional roleplay. Upon its release, the set was well-received by parents for its durability and its success in translating the soft, whimsical tone of the original E.H. Shepard illustrations into a tactile, three-dimensional play experience.
