Where it came from
Released in May 2016, the André Schürrle minifigure is part of the LEGO Minifigures Series 71014, a special collection dedicated to the German national football team, Die Mannschaft. This set was produced as a limited-edition collaboration between LEGO and the German Football Association (DFB) to celebrate the team's participation in the UEFA Euro 2016 tournament. The figures were sold in blind bags throughout Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, marking a unique cross-over between professional sports branding and the collectible toy market.
The design of the minifigure features the official German national team kit from the 2016 season, complete with the player's name and number printed on the back of the torso. The aesthetic goal was to capture the likeness and uniform details of the active roster at the time, offering a stylized, simplified representation of the athletes. Upon release, the set was met with high demand from both football enthusiasts and LEGO collectors, quickly becoming a sought-after piece due to the restricted distribution area and the iconic status of the participating players.
