Where it came from
The LEGO Star Wars Bantha Microfighter, set 75265, was released in early 2020 as part of a dual-pack featuring the T-16 Skyhopper. It was designed to capture the iconic desert fauna of Tatooine in the stylized, chibi-inspired aesthetic characteristic of the Microfighters sub-theme, which aims to provide accessible, play-oriented versions of larger Star Wars vehicles and creatures.
The set was conceived to introduce the Bantha as a brick-built figure, a significant departure from the standard LEGO Star Wars approach of using specialized molded animal pieces. By utilizing standard plates and slopes, the design team prioritized playability and parts-versatility, resulting in a model that was generally well-received by fans for its clever use of connections to replicate the creature's shaggy silhouette.
