Where it came from
Released in 2023, the Batman Construction Figure (76259-1) represents a shift in the LEGO DC theme toward large-scale, poseable character models. Designed to capture the aesthetic of the 1989 Tim Burton Batman film, the set focuses on a buildable, articulated figure that allows for dynamic display options, departing from the traditional minifigure-scale vehicles and playsets that characterized the line for decades.
The figure was developed as part of a wider initiative to offer adult fans and younger builders a more tactile, expressive way to represent iconic comic book characters. By utilizing specialized Technic joints and custom-molded elements, the design team aimed to balance structural stability with the ability to replicate Batman’s signature brooding stance and cape silhouette. Upon release, it was generally well-received for its accuracy to the source material and its distinct departure from standard blocky construction.
