Where it came from
The Killer Croc Sewer Smash set was released in 2016 as part of the LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes line. It was designed to capture a dramatic confrontation in the Gotham City sewers, centering on the hulking, brick-built Killer Croc figure alongside a large, rugged off-road vehicle for Batman. The set reflects the design language of the era, which favored large, play-oriented vehicles paired with iconic antagonists to anchor the DC universe narrative.
The set was conceptualized by LEGO designers to offer a complex build experience, featuring a heavy-duty Bat-Tank equipped with a ramming function and an elaborate sewer gate structure. It was generally received well by collectors for its inclusion of several minifigures—including Red Hood, Katana, and Captain Boomerang—and for the novelty of the oversized Killer Croc, which diverged from traditional minifigure scaling to better represent the character's imposing stature in the source material.
