Where it came from
Released in 2019 as part of the Lego DC Super Heroes line, the Batman Mech vs. Poison Ivy Mech set represents a creative departure from the traditional vehicle-focused builds of the theme. Designed to capitalize on the popularity of larger, posable mechs, this set brings a sense of kinetic storytelling to the Batman universe, allowing builders to construct two distinct combat-ready figures that mirror the adversarial relationship between the two iconic characters.
The set's design emphasizes contrasting aesthetics, pairing Batman's industrial, tech-heavy machinery with Poison Ivy's organic, nature-inspired mech. By incorporating features like a stud shooter, a net shooter, and an integrated plant-like 'poison ivy' construction, the designers aimed to provide a dynamic play experience that captured the distinct power sets of the characters. It was well-received by fans of the Lego DC theme for its inventive use of parts and the inclusion of unique minifigures, including a special Firefly figure.
