Where it came from
This set was released as part of the LEGO DC Batman sub-theme, designed to capture the distinctive aesthetic of the 1992 film Batman Returns. It features the iconic Burton-era Batmobile, characterized by its long, sleek frame and jet-turbine engine, alongside the Penguin’s duck-shaped vehicle. The design focuses on recreating the gothic, industrial atmosphere of Gotham City through the lens of the film's unique production design.
The set was received as a nostalgic homage for fans of Tim Burton's cinematic contribution to the Batman franchise. It emphasizes the contrast between Batman's sophisticated, high-tech engineering and the eccentric, circus-inspired hardware used by his adversary. By including both vehicles, the set invites collectors to reenact the film's climactic pursuits, serving as a display piece that bridges the gap between classic superhero cinema and modular brick building.
