Where it came from
Blocks magazine issue 100 serves as a landmark edition for the independent publication dedicated to the Lego hobby. Released to commemorate a century of issues, the magazine functions as a retrospective and a celebration of the community's growth. It captures the evolution of the brand from a niche building toy to a global cultural phenomenon, reflecting the shift in focus from childhood play to complex adult-oriented display sets.
The design of issue 100 leans into a commemorative aesthetic, often utilizing high-contrast visuals and archival-style photography to contrast early product designs with modern, intricate builds. It was produced by the Blocks editorial team to acknowledge their longevity in a crowded media landscape, aiming to balance nostalgic reflection with current insights into design philosophy and the ongoing expansion of the Lego ecosystem.
