Where it came from
Blocks magazine issue 140 was released in 2024 as part of an independent monthly publication series dedicated to the LEGO hobbyist community. Established to provide in-depth reviews, interviews with designers, and insights into fan-made creations, the magazine serves as an unofficial bridge between The LEGO Group and its adult collector base. This particular issue continues the publication's long-standing tradition of dissecting technical building techniques while highlighting the evolving landscape of global fan conventions and set history.
The editorial direction for this issue maintains the signature aesthetic established by the magazine's founders, prioritizing high-quality photography and long-form journalism over standard marketing copy. Designed to appeal to both casual builders and serious AFOLs (Adult Fans of LEGO), the issue reflects a broader movement within the hobby to treat building sets as a legitimate creative medium. Reception among the community remains positive, largely due to the publication's focus on independent analysis and the celebration of builder craftsmanship rather than mere product promotion.
