Where it came from
Blocks magazine issue 85 was published in early 2022 as an independent resource for the global adult fan of LEGO community. Launched to provide deeper insights than official promotional materials, the magazine focuses on behind-the-scenes interviews, technical build techniques, and comprehensive reviews of new sets. This specific issue features detailed coverage of the Star Wars AT-AT set, offering readers a breakdown of the design process and assembly experience that distinguishes the publication as a niche technical guide for enthusiasts.
The editorial direction for this issue emphasizes professional photography and long-form analysis, moving away from traditional marketing copy. The magazine utilizes a clean, modular layout typical of high-end hobbyist periodicals, designed to serve as both a reference manual and a collectible artifact. Reception within the AFOL (Adult Fan of LEGO) community has been positive, with the publication frequently cited for its commitment to editorial independence and its success in archiving the history of set design through the perspective of both creators and dedicated builders.
