Boy with ghost

The Boy with Ghost figure originated as part of the Lego Duplo theme, specifically appearing in the 2893-1 'Ghost Castle' set released in the late 1990s. Designed for the younger toddler demographic, the set leaned into a whimsical, non-threatening take on spooky themes, providing a durable and chunky play experience typical of the Duplo line. It represented a brief period where the brand explored gothic motifs scaled down for small hands, emphasizing tactile interaction and simple, imaginative storytelling.

The design of the figure reflects the characteristic Duplo aesthetic of the era, which prioritized rounded edges and primary color palettes to ensure safety and visual engagement for children ages 2 to 5. The ghost accessory was molded from soft, pliable plastic to accommodate the grip of a toddler, contrasting with the more rigid, stationary nature of the boy figure. While these sets were initially received as charming novelty additions to the Duplo catalog, they have since become noted as nostalgic curiosities among enthusiasts of early Lego toy design history.
