Where it came from
BrickJournal, a magazine dedicated to the adult fan of LEGO community, released issue 17 in 2012. Founded by Joe Meno, the publication serves as a chronicle of the creative hobbyist movement, highlighting intricate custom builds, interviews with professional designers, and technical tutorials for brick enthusiasts who have moved beyond standard commercial kits.
The aesthetic and editorial direction of the magazine were established by Meno to provide a formal platform for a community that had grown significantly with the advent of online forums. Issue 17 maintains this mission, offering a blend of artistic showcases and editorial commentary, reflecting a period where the hobby was transitioning from a niche pastime into a recognized form of modular, medium-based sculpture.
