Where it came from
The LEGO Ninjago set 891838-1, titled 'Buffer,' was released in 2019 as a promotional foil-pack polybag included with the LEGO Ninjago magazine. This item was created to support the 'Legacy' sub-theme, which revisited classic designs and characters from the earlier years of the Ninjago storyline to introduce them to a new generation of collectors.
The design of the Buffer minifigure features the distinct aesthetic of the Stone Army, characterized by earthy tones and textured armor pieces. Like many promotional polybags produced by the LEGO Group for their licensed publications, this set served as a cost-effective way to distribute unique character iterations, often featuring exclusive torso prints that were not found in larger, retail-boxed sets at the time.
