Bug Blaster / Beetle Pod

Released in 1997, the Bug Blaster, also known as the Beetle Pod, belongs to the short-lived Insectoids subtheme of the Space line. This era represented a shift toward organic, creature-inspired designs, moving away from the traditional industrial aesthetic of earlier Space sets. The set was engineered to capture a sense of extraterrestrial exploration, utilizing translucent neon-orange elements to signify alien technology and bioluminescent qualities.

The design was heavily influenced by the science fiction tropes of the late 1990s, focusing on modularity and the integration of small, insect-like mechs that could interact with larger base-plate structures.
