Where it came from
Released in 1997 as part of the LEGO Castle subtheme known as Fright Knights, Bull's Attack was designed to bring a fantastical, dark aesthetic to the traditional medieval line. The set features a small fortification and a horse-drawn cart designed to look like a bull's head, reflecting the eccentric and mystical shift in design direction that defined the Fright Knights era, which introduced bold color palettes like black and neon green.
The set was conceived during a period when LEGO was experimenting with more narrative-driven, character-focused themes. It prominently features the Willa the Witch minifigure alongside a knight, highlighting the supernatural conflict central to the Fright Knights lore. While the series was polarizing among traditionalists who preferred the grounded aesthetic of earlier Castle sets, it remains a notable example of the company's creative risk-taking in the late 1990s.
