Where it came from
Released in 1985 as part of the Lego Town theme, the Cargo Centre 6391-1 stands as a quintessential example of mid-1980s set design. It was created to expand the logistical possibilities of a Lego city, providing a dedicated space for the loading and unloading of freight. The set includes a distinctive crane, a flatbed truck, and several crates, reflecting the era's focus on functional, play-oriented urban infrastructure that complemented the broader Town theme.
The design follows the classic aesthetic of the period, utilizing a limited color palette of white, red, and blue with a focus on modular construction. While not attributed to a single named designer, the set was developed during a time when Lego aimed to introduce more sophisticated mechanical elements, such as the hook-and-pulley system on the crane. It was well-received by collectors for its versatility and remains a sought-after piece for those specializing in the vintage Town series.
