Where it came from
Released in 2012 as part of the Lego Friends theme, the 'Cat at Vets' set (562003-1) was a small promotional polybag designed to expand the play potential of the Heartlake City collection. The theme was notable for introducing the 'mini-doll' figure, a departure from the traditional blocky minifigure, specifically designed to appeal to a demographic that had previously been underserved by Lego’s broader product lines.
The set centers on a veterinary scene, a core pillar of the Friends narrative which emphasizes nurturing and care. It was produced to encourage imaginative play by providing bite-sized, accessible kits that complemented larger sets like the Heartlake Vet clinic. The design captures the colorful, aesthetic-driven palette of the Friends universe, prioritizing playability and character-based interaction over complex mechanical builds.
