Where it came from
Released in 2013 as part of the LEGO City Great Vehicles subtheme, the Cement Mixer (60018-1) was designed to provide a realistic construction site experience for younger builders. The set captures the mechanical essence of a functional concrete truck, emphasizing playability through a rotating mixing drum that reflects the engineering of real-world heavy machinery found in urban development projects.
The design prioritizes the utilitarian aesthetic typical of the City line, utilizing a bold yellow and orange color scheme to ensure visibility. It was well-received by the building community for its effective use of Technic elements to create the turning mechanism, offering a balance between simple construction and interactive functionality that remains characteristic of the Great Vehicles series.
