Where it came from
The Christmas Train Ride (set 40262-1) was released by The LEGO Group in 2017 as part of their Seasonal subtheme. This small promotional set was designed to complement larger festive builds or serve as a standalone holiday display. It captures the charm of a miniature carnival-style train ride, featuring a locomotive, a passenger carriage, and a small ticket booth, all rendered in a classic red, green, and gold palette associated with traditional Christmas aesthetics.
The set was conceived as an accessible, bite-sized seasonal offering, typical of the brand's efforts to provide affordable holiday-themed gifts during the winter months. Its design emphasizes playability within a limited piece count, incorporating small minifigures and clever structural details to evoke a sense of festive nostalgia. Upon its release, it was well-received by fans and collectors for its whimsical utility in dioramas and its ability to fit seamlessly into seasonal table displays.
