Where it came from
The City Hero Magnet Set, released under the set number 852513-1, emerged during the late 2000s as part of a line of collectible accessories designed to complement the broader LEGO City theme. These sets were produced to provide fans with small, displayable vignettes featuring classic minifigure archetypes, such as police officers and firefighters, which served as foundational characters for urban-themed play.
The design focused on simplicity and immediate recognition, utilizing standard minifigures attached to branded magnetic plates. These items were aimed at younger builders and enthusiasts looking for functional desk accessories rather than complex construction projects. Upon release, they were generally well-received as accessible gift items, though they were later discontinued as the company moved away from magnetic minifigure components due to design revisions and safety considerations.
