Cragger's Command Ship

Released in 2013 as part of the inaugural wave of the LEGO Legends of Chima theme, Cragger's Command Ship (70006-1) was designed to anchor the central conflict between the Crocodile and Lion tribes. The set arrived during a period when the LEGO Group was heavily invested in integrated transmedia storytelling, accompanying a television series that provided context for the ship's role as the mobile fortress of the antagonist, Cragger. The design leans into the aggressive, organic aesthetic of the Croc tribe, featuring a jagged, armored hull and specialized functions intended to capture the predatory nature of the faction.

The model was conceived by LEGO designers to emphasize playability, incorporating hidden weapon storage, a jail cell for prisoners, and a detachable mini-boat to represent the ship's versatility in the watery environment of the Chima world. Upon its release, it was noted by the building community for its distinct color palette of dark olive and tan, which set it apart from the brighter, primary-colored sets prevalent in other themes at the time. It remains a hallmark of the Chima line’s attempt to blend high-fantasy narrative elements with intricate, action-oriented mechanical features.
