Where it came from
The Darth Vader Bust, set 75227-1, was released in 2019 as an exclusive for Star Wars Celebration Chicago. Produced by the LEGO Group, this set was designed as part of a series of promotional busts meant to capture iconic silhouettes from the Star Wars franchise. Its creation sought to bridge the gap between complex display models and the traditional buildable action figures that were prevalent in the theme at the time.
The design of the bust emphasizes the angular, menacing geometry of Vader's helmet, utilizing a mix of standard bricks and specialized slopes to recreate the character's signature profile. Because it was released as a limited convention exclusive, it garnered immediate interest from adult fans of LEGO who prioritize display-oriented models. The set is noted for its efficient use of parts to achieve a recognizable likeness, influencing the design language of the later LEGO Star Wars Helmet Collection.
