Where it came from
Released in 2022 as part of the Lego BrickHeadz line, set 40549-1 features stylized, block-built interpretations of Eleven and the Demogorgon from the popular Netflix series Stranger Things. The set was created to capture the aesthetic contrast between the show's human protagonist and its primary antagonist, utilizing the signature BrickHeadz proportions that emphasize large, expressive eyes and a uniform base structure.
The design process for this set focused on translating the distinct visual markers of the characters into the limited geometry of the BrickHeadz format, such as Eleven's iconic pink dress and blonde wig alongside the Demogorgon's complex, petal-like head configuration. As a licensed product, the set was aimed at both fans of the science fiction horror series and adult collectors of the BrickHeadz theme, generally receiving positive feedback for its clever use of parts to achieve recognizable character likenesses.
