Dino Defense HQ

Dino Defense HQ, released in 2012 as set 5887-1, served as the flagship flagship model for the short-lived Lego Dino theme. This collection was developed to capture the perennial interest in prehistoric creatures, positioning itself as a successor to the 2005 Dino Attack series. The set was designed to offer an immersive play experience, focusing on a fortified research facility capable of being rearranged into various defensive configurations to contain the included dinosaur figures.

The aesthetic of the set leaned into a militarized industrial style, utilizing a color palette of olive green, tan, and dark gray to evoke a rugged, remote outpost feel. Design efforts were centered on mechanical play features, such as moving gates and deployable weaponry, which were intended to contrast with the organic, molded plastic textures of the accompanying T-Rex and smaller raptor figures. Upon its release, it was noted by collectors for being the largest set in the Dino line, providing a substantial backdrop for the theme's narrative of high-stakes creature capture.
