Where it came from
The LEGO Friends Display Stand, identified by its part number 4659602-1, was produced to support the retail presentation of the Friends theme, which launched in 2012. This theme marked a significant shift in the company's approach, moving away from the traditional minifigure scale to introduce the mini-doll, a figure designed with more realistic proportions and a color palette intended to appeal to a demographic that had been historically underserved by the brand's offerings.
The stand was designed as a functional piece of point-of-sale equipment, intended to elevate the Friends models on store shelves to capture the attention of children and collectors. While the design is utilitarian, focusing on stability and branding visibility, it reflects the broader design philosophy of the Friends line, which emphasizes vibrant, modular builds and detailed accessories that encourage social and imaginative play within the fictional world of Heartlake City.
