Released in 1999, the Dual Defender was part of the Lego Model Team sub-theme, which focused on creating highly detailed, realistic vehicles aimed at a slightly older building demographic than the standard System sets. During this period, the Model Team line bridged the gap between basic play sets and the more complex Technic series, emphasizing aesthetic accuracy and robust construction.
