Where it came from
The Eagles' Castle, set 70011-1, was released by LEGO in 2013 as part of the Legends of Chima theme. This fantasy-based line was developed to support a multimedia franchise including a television series, featuring an anthropomorphic world where animal tribes vied for control of a powerful energy source known as Chi. The set was designed to capture the avian aesthetic of the Eagle tribe, utilizing a distinct color palette of blues, golds, and whites to reflect their high-altitude, tech-oriented culture.
The model is recognized for its imaginative structural design, which incorporates mechanical play features like moving gates and a drop-down bridge meant to represent a fortified aerie. Like many sets in the Chima line, it was aimed at younger builders and fans of the accompanying animated narrative, blending traditional building techniques with character-driven action. It remains a hallmark of the mid-2010s era of original LEGO themes, illustrating the company's commitment to creating expansive, proprietary storytelling worlds during that period.
