Where it came from
Elton Elephant, set number 3601-1, was released in the early 1990s as part of the LEGO Duplo animal figures line. Designed for toddlers, the set focused on modular, chunky plastic construction intended to introduce younger children to the tactile experience of building while emphasizing durability and safety in its rounded, oversized design.
The character design fits within the broader aesthetic of the Duplo animal series, which favored simplified, friendly features to appeal to early childhood development. While not associated with a specific media franchise or designer, Elton became a recognizable staple of the Duplo catalog during this era, valued by parents for its compatibility with other system bricks and its role in basic creative play.
