Where it came from
The Emergency Response Centre (set 6479) was released by LEGO in 2000 as part of the short-lived Town Junior subtheme. Designed to bridge the gap between the simplified construction of Duplo and the more complex System sets, this collection aimed to provide younger builders with a high-play-value experience. The set captured the mid-century modern aesthetic of municipal service buildings popular in LEGO design at the time, prioritizing accessibility and modularity for its target age demographic.
The set includes a central dispatch station, a fire truck, and an ambulance, reflecting a classic emergency services motif that has been a staple of the company's output since the 1970s. It was well-received by parents for its ease of assembly and sturdy construction, though it remains a niche item for adult collectors due to the specific, often non-standardized chassis pieces that define the Junior line's unique building style.
