Where it came from
The European Taxi, identified as set number 315-4, was released in 1970 as part of the Legoland product line. It was designed during a period when the brand was transitioning from basic building bricks to more representational models, focusing on capturing the distinct aesthetics of international vehicle designs to appeal to a growing global market.
The model features a simple, compact construction intended to evoke the classic silhouette of mid-century urban taxis. While it lacks the intricate specialized pieces of modern kits, its design was praised at the time for its efficiency and clear structural intent, serving as a staple in city-themed dioramas for collectors of early twentieth-century system sets.
