Where it came from
The LEGO Extra Bricks White set 802-2 was released in the early 1970s, a period during which the LEGO Group began formalizing their range of supplemental packs. These sets were designed to address the practical needs of builders who required additional pieces to expand their existing creations, reflecting a shift toward a more modular and open-ended play experience that encouraged creativity beyond the constraints of specific boxed kits.
The design of this supplemental pack is characteristic of the company's early branding, utilizing a simple, utilitarian approach to packaging that focused on the utility of the bricks themselves. It was received as a fundamental component of the expanding LEGO ecosystem, providing users with the necessary foundation to augment their structures with a neutral, versatile color palette that remained a staple of the system's aesthetic identity for years to come.
