Where it came from
The Farming Scene set, cataloged as 255-2, was produced by LEGO during the mid-1970s as part of an effort to expand their town-themed offerings beyond traditional urban architecture. This set reflects a transition period in the company’s history, moving toward more specialized modular designs that allowed children to create pastoral dioramas featuring a tractor, a small barn structure, and various agricultural implements.
The design philosophy behind this set centered on simplicity and playability, relying on a palette of primary colors that was standard for the era. By incorporating a brick-built tractor and a rudimentary farm plot, the set aimed to introduce rural life into the broader LEGO building system. It was well-received by hobbyists for its functional play value and remains a classic example of the early, pre-minifigure era of modular building sets.
