Ferrari 488 GTE 'AF Corse #51'

Released in 2021 as part of the LEGO Technic line, the 488 GTE 'AF Corse #51' serves as a technical tribute to one of endurance racing’s most successful modern machines. Developed in direct collaboration with Ferrari, the set was designed to translate the complex aerodynamics and mechanical silhouette of the real-world racer—which won the 2020 24 Hours of Le Mans in its class—into the Technic system. The model utilizes the theme's signature pin-and-axle construction to replicate the car’s suspension, V8 engine with moving pistons, and functional steering, grounding the toy in the engineering rigor characteristic of both brands.

The aesthetic design focuses on authentic representation, featuring the iconic Rosso Corsa color scheme and authentic sponsor decals that mirror the competition vehicle. Upon its arrival, the set was noted by the adult collector community for its departure from traditional static models, emphasizing mechanical engagement over pure display value. While it was widely praised for capturing the aggressive stance of the original 488 GTE, its reception centered on its status as a sophisticated entry-level piece for those interested in automotive engineering and the rigorous detail inherent in contemporary Technic vehicle design.
