Where it came from
Released in 1987 as part of the Lego Town theme, the Fire Chief's Car, set 6505, represents a classic era of Lego vehicle design. It was created to provide a specialized service vehicle for the municipal fire department, aligning with the brand's focus on realistic civilian life and emergency services. The set utilizes the standard four-wide vehicle chassis typical of its decade, reflecting the design language of the time where simplicity and modularity were paramount to encourage imaginative play.
The model was designed by the Lego internal creative team during a period when the company was expanding its city-building play systems. By featuring a dedicated fire chief character and a compact, recognizable emergency vehicle, the set aimed to enhance the interactivity of existing fire station layouts. While it was not a centerpiece set, it was received as a functional, well-integrated component of the broader Town collection, praised by enthusiasts for its quintessential aesthetic of 1980s Lego sets.
