Where it came from
The Fire Mech (set 70615-1) was released in 2017 as a cornerstone of the LEGO Ninjago Movie product line. Designed to tie in with the cinematic release, the set reflects the transition of the long-running Ninjago franchise into a big-budget animated feature, focusing on the character Kai and his elemental affinity for fire.
The model was designed by LEGO staff to capture the massive, articulated scale of the cinematic mechs, featuring dual shoulder-mounted disc shooters and intricate mechanical detailing. It was well-regarded by the builder community for its structural stability and its faithful, if stylized, representation of the on-screen animation model.
