Where it came from
The Fire & Rescue Squad, set number 6366, was released in 1985 as part of the Lego Town theme, a central pillar of the company's offerings during the decade. It reflects the classic aesthetic of the era, focusing on modular, city-building elements that encouraged imaginative play within a structured urban environment. The design prioritizes primary colors and simple, sturdy construction, capturing the utilitarian look of emergency service vehicles that were highly popular among children at the time.
The set was conceptualized by the internal design teams at Lego, who aimed to provide a compact, affordable entry point into the emergency services sub-theme. By including both a firefighting vehicle and a minifigure character, the set offered a complete narrative scene in a small package. It was well-received upon release for its value and compatibility with the wider Lego Town infrastructure, cementing its place as a representative example of 1980s set design principles.
