Where it came from
The Flashback Shredder, designated as set 5002127-1, was released by the LEGO Group in 2014 as a promotional polybag. It was designed to coincide with the broader reintroduction of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles theme, capturing a specific visual iteration of the iconic antagonist, Shredder, in his classic comic-book-inspired aesthetic rather than the contemporary film version.
The design of this minifigure was intended to offer collectors a focused, standalone representation of the character that emphasizes his traditional armor and signature helmet. Within the context of the 2014 promotional rollout, it served as a supplemental piece for fans of the franchise, aiming to provide a nostalgic touchpoint that distinguished it from the more complex, large-scale sets being released concurrently.
