Flying Jelly Sub

The Flying Jelly Sub was released in 2017 as part of the tie-in product line for The LEGO Ninjago Movie. It represents the surreal, steampunk-inspired aesthetics of the film’s antagonist, Lord Garmadon, whose army utilizes a fleet of bizarre, aquatic-themed vehicles. The design emphasizes a biological yet mechanical silhouette, featuring translucent elements and tentacle-like appendages to mimic a jellyfish while functioning as an underwater submersible.

The model was designed to capture the whimsical and chaotic spirit of the film’s production design, which often blended traditional Japanese motifs with exaggerated, high-fantasy machinery. Upon its release, the set was noted by collectors for its unique color palette and the specific inclusion of the Shark Army Thug and Takuma minifigures, which helped flesh out the film's eccentric faction.
