Where it came from
The Forest Elf was released in 2022 as part of the LEGO Minifigures Series 22, a collection designed to highlight diverse and imaginative characters. This specific figure draws heavily on classical folklore and fantasy tropes, featuring a distinct mushroom-themed hat and a molded woodland cloak that differentiates it from standard minifigure designs. It represents a long-standing tradition within the company of blending naturalistic, whimsical themes with the technical constraints of the minifigure form.
The design process for Series 22 minifigures focused on tactile variety and detailed printing, with the Forest Elf specifically utilizing dual-molded elements for its headgear. Upon release, the set was well-received by the adult collector community for its charm and utility in building fantasy-themed dioramas. It fits into the broader history of LEGO fantasy sub-themes, reflecting an enduring design interest in bringing mythical creatures to life through compact, collectible plastic figures.
