Where it came from
The Funny Giraffe, released under set number 3512-1, emerged in 1999 as part of a brief series of small, buildable animal figures. This set represents a period when the manufacturer experimented with stylized, character-focused creature designs, moving away from the more traditional architectural or vehicle-based models that dominated their output at the time.
The design utilizes a mix of classic primary-colored bricks and specialized rounded elements to capture the creature's whimsical proportions and long neck. While it did not receive widespread critical acclaim, it remains a nostalgic example of late 1990s experimental set design, valued by collectors for its simplicity and the distinct aesthetic of that creative era.
