Released in 2002, the Game Boy Advance title Galidor: Defenders of the Outer Dimension was developed by Tiertex Design Studios as a tie-in to the short-lived LEGO construction theme and its accompanying live-action television series. The game was produced during a period when the LEGO Group was aggressively experimenting with original intellectual properties that departed from their traditional brick-based aesthetic, attempting to capture the sci-fi action market that was popular with children at the time.

The game design focused on side-scrolling platforming elements intended to mirror the abilities of the show's characters, allowing players to shift between different forms.
