Where it came from
The Glam Metal Batman minifigure was released in 2017 as part of the first series of The LEGO Batman Movie Collectible Minifigures, a set designed to celebrate the quirky, varied iterations of the Caped Crusader depicted in the film. This particular figure draws inspiration from the 1980s hair metal aesthetic, featuring a stylized bat-symbol on a spiked leather-style vest, complete with a guitar accessory and wild, teased hair.
The design team at LEGO developed this series to showcase Batman in unconventional outfits that reflect different musical and pop culture subgenres. By leaning into the theatricality of the movie, the designers aimed to balance the gritty nature of comic book characters with the playful, absurdity-driven tone of the film. Upon release, the series was well received by adult collectors and fans of the movie, specifically noted for its high level of printed detail and thematic creativity.
