Where it came from
The 5522 Golden Anniversary Set was released by the LEGO Group in 2008 to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the patent for the modern LEGO brick design. As a specialized promotional item, it was primarily distributed to employees and select partners to mark this half-century milestone of the company's core product, reflecting on the historical evolution of the system since its 1958 patent filing.
The set consists of a small, gold-colored brick accompanied by a display stand, designed to highlight the iconic geometry that has remained consistent for decades. It features a minimalist aesthetic focused on the singular element that serves as the foundation for the entire LEGO building system, serving as an archival memento rather than a traditional construction toy intended for play.
