Where it came from
Released as part of the LEGO Friends theme in 2012, the Hamster and tree set was designed as a small promotional polybag intended to introduce the series' aesthetic to new builders. The Friends line marked a significant shift for the company, featuring a new minifigure style—the 'mini-doll'—and a color palette focused on softer pastels and detailed accessories that emphasized domestic and social play scenarios.
The set centers on a small brick-built tree structure accompanied by a hamster figure, which was a core animal element within the early years of the Friends theme. It was designed to offer an accessible entry point into the line's world-building, focusing on pet care and nature-themed micro-environments that became a hallmark of the theme's long-term commercial success and stylistic identity.
